PBCN Health's Communities
The Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation Council, Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation Health Services Inc. and Health Canada signed its first five year tripartite health Transfer Agreement on March 17, 1995. Subsequent Agreements were signed in April 2000 and April 2003. The transfer provides for the administration, management and direction of specific health programs to the Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation through the Health Services Inc. Board of Directors.
Health Services Inc. is a non-profit corporation that was mandated by Chief and Council to manage and deliver the Health Services Transfer Agreement to the communities of Pelican Narrows, Deschambault Lake, Sturgeon Landing, and Southend. Complete transfer of health services to the communities took place September 1st, 1995.
Health Services has over 100 full-time staff members delivering the mandatory programs and services under the Agreement. In Prince Albert, there are 6 program managers that coordinate the overall financial and program operations of Health Services. Program managers work with Health Directors, Nursing Coordinators and other Program Coordinators from the health centers in the communities to expediently carry out the goals of the programs.
